3D Printed Bookshelf Alley

A few friends and I had an art gift exchange over the holidays. I got inspired by a few alley scenes people created online. These scenes could fit inside a bookshelf, giving the illusion of a long alleyway using forced perspective and lighting. I roughed out the general idea with cardboard. I then modeled everything in Maya. I worked with a friend and their Formlabs printer to print out each piece. Once the piece was complete I painted it with the cheapest arts and craft paint I could find. Once everything was painted I then Epoxy glued it all together and routed some LED lights behind the windows. Added some diffused plastic on each window pane.

Once it was all together I was moderately happy with the amount of light from the windows so I decided to add more room to the top so I could have a larger "day" light in the scene. I also modeled and 3D printed some cats but the project was just taking too long to complete so I included the prints it in the package for my friend to paint.

Project took waaaay longer than I expected but learned a ton through it all.
